While practicing in Fort Myers, Dr. Nedd had the honor of working with numerous athletes including players from the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins, professional and high school football players, professional golfers and instructors, tennis professionals, competitive horse riders, professional bodybuilders, and amateur weekend warriors. Dr. Nedd is currently the team chiropractor for the Galactics Clearwater International F.C. soccer teams. On the first weekend that he assisted them (Jan. 24-27, 2008), both the men’s "A" and the over-40 teams won their divisions in this year’s prestigious national tournament held at Wide World of Sports in Disney World - a tournament that both teams never finished higher than 2nd in previous years!
Dr. Nedd has done extensive independent research and has attended dozens of postgraduate seminars on a wide array of holistic approaches, which has allowed him to successfully help many people with difficult health conditions. Continue reading this newsletter and you will notice some of the approaches that Dr. Nedd specializes in on the next 2 pages, a list of free workshops at our office on a wide range of holistic approaches, and specifics about our Open House on March 15th. Dr. Nedd looks forward to meeting you and helping you, your family, and your friends in your quest for optimal health!
Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique
Dr. Nedd delivers standard manual chiropractic adjustments and also uses adjusting instruments including the Activator to deliver low-force, high-velocity precision adjustments. Activator Methods is the world’s most widely practiced low-force chiropractic technique. It incorporates the use of an orthopedic leg length analysis, along with a step-by-step assessment of body mechanics and neurological reflexes. This allows the doctor to precisely determine where to adjust, how much force to use depending on the spinal or extremity region, when and when not to adjust, and how well each patient is progressing.
The Activator produces a thrust of 29-58 pounds in just ½-1 millisecond which is about 25-50 times faster than the time it takes for your muscles to tense up. Using the Activator is therefore much easier on the doctor as well as the patient receiving the adjustment. The Activator is designed not only to move bones, but its vibrational frequency acts to stimulate reflexes that help to normalize nerve function resulting in better overall body function and health.
The Activator is safe enough to use on everyone including newborns, children, elderly including those with osteoporosis, and even animals! Dr. Nedd, who is a Certified Veterinary Chiropractitioner, has successfully used the Activator to adjust many dogs, cats, and horses. For more information on Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique, attend the workshop on February 18 and go to the website www.activator.com.
Low Level Laser Therapy
Low level laser therapy, also known as "cold laser therapy," is one of the safest and most effective physical medicine therapies that exists. Hot lasers emit heat destroying tissue and are used primarily for surgical procedures of the eye, skin, and abdomen. Low level lasers cause a stimulative healing effect and produce no heat.
Research has shown that the cells of the body actually communicate with each other through coherent light. Dr. Nedd uses the Erchonia Medical laser which is programmed at a base wavelength of 635 nanometers. This exact wavelength was documented in Scientific American in August 1997 to kill bacteria, accelerate wound healing, stimulate cell division without causing abnormal (cancerous) cell growth, and stimulate cellular energy called ATP, while at the same time neutralizing free radicals which have been proven to cause cancer.
Different frequencies or pulsed vibrations of light can be programmed into the Erchonia Medical laser to influence the healing of specific tissues resulting in rapid and superior healing and pain reduction. For more information go to the website erchonia.com.
Dr. Nedd is certified in the state of Florida to practice acupuncture. Acupuncture is one of the most ancient healing arts dating back approximately 5,000 years in China, but it wasn’t formally accepted in the U.S. until 1972 when President Nixon returned from China with some Oriental doctors who amazed the American public and the Western medical establishment with a highly publicized brain surgery performed on a patient who was wide awake, did not feel any pain, and had no anesthesia except for a few acupuncture needles!
Acupuncture is a safe procedure since it is non-addictive, has no adverse side effects, and is non-toxic since all needles are sterilized. Dr. Nedd uses sterilized disposable needles for increased safety. The procedure is also surprisingly nearly painless and most people are amazed at how thin the needles are (10-15 acupuncture needles can fit into one conventional hypodermic needle).
Acupuncture is excellent for handling thousands of health disorders, but it really excels at helping to reduce pain and inflammation as well as promoting quick healing.
Muscle testing is an outstanding tool that Dr. Nedd uses to assess muscle function as well as obtaining data about the body using reflex testing. Dr. Nedd is certified in both Applied Kinesiology and Touch For Health which allows him to expertly improve muscle function and posture by determining the true cause(s) of imbalance which could result from a pinched nerve from a vertebral or extremity joint, an under– or over-active acupuncture meridian, a nutritional deficiency or excess, or a weak muscle or muscles that need to be massaged or exercised.
For example, it is not uncommon to have low back pain, groin pain, and a crooked pelvis due to a weak psoas muscle. Dr. Nedd will test this muscle by having you lie on your back and holding your leg upward against resistance. After determining what factor(s) is causing the weakness and correcting this, Dr. Nedd will then retest this muscle and you should notice an immediate improvement in strength and function by your leg "locking" in place against at least the same amount of pressure applied against it as before. A home exercise may also be recommended to further improve function.
Muscle testing and balancing is something that you have to experience and feel to appreciate. Often the results are so quick and profound that it can seem miraculous. We look forward to you experiencing this great technology and adding to our growing list of success stories.
Dr. Nedd likes to emphasize the importance of you taking responsibility for your health and this is one area that tends to be lacking with most people. It’s supremely important to get adjustments to realign your spine and extremities, but if the muscles and connective tissues responsible for supporting them are weak or too tight and imbalanced, then the chances of you holding your adjustments go down significantly.
All patients at Nedd Health Center with physical problems will be tested for postural distortions and joint motion restrictions and will be given recommended in-office therapies as well as home and possibly work procedures to handle these imbalances. Home recommendations may include stretching, strengthening exercises, and cardiovascular exercises including walking, biking, and/or swimming to name a few.
Take advantage of all the therapies and exercise-related approaches that Nedd Health Center has to offer including therapeutic massage and Pilates. For more information contact our office about these approaches.
Clinical Nutrition and Individualized Diets
Dr. Nedd has over 500 hours of post-graduate training in nutrition and diet alone plus 18 years of hands-on experience. He likes to stress the fundamentals including healthy habits, but also has the wherewithal to handle difficult conditions that have been unresponsive to other approaches.
Dr. Nedd prefers to use questionnaires as well as objective tests including body composition through bioimpedence, vital signs, and lab tests. In addition, Dr. Nedd incorporates muscle testing into this approach to more accurately determine the exact supplements and dosages needed on an individual basis.
Recommended diets vary from individual-to-individual depending on what needs to be handled which may include weight loss, weight gain, digestive disorders, cardiovascular disorders, candida cleansing, hypothyroidism, blood sugar handling disorders, and gout to name a few.
Dr. Nedd uses clinically-designed nutrition and also recommends supplements and organic foods at nearby Nature’s Food Patch.
